In prior years gifts to the State of Oregon to benefit improvements to child care facilities have provided an Oregon credit equal to 75% of the gift,  as well as a federal charitable gift deduction to reduce your federal Income.  For example, if your federal tax rate was 25%, a gift of $100 provided a savings of $25 on your federal return and a state benefit of $75 through the credit.  The net cost to you for making the $100 gift was nothing.

Effective October 5, 2015 the Oregon credit is reduced from 75% to 50%.
This link leads you to Oregon’s credit information pages.  But remember that the credit decreases to 50% for gifts made on or after October 5, 2015.
