As part if Isler's commitment to the Triple Bottom Line, it has embarked on several initiatives relating to enviornmental sustainability practices including:

  • Local community service projects that the owners of Isler have participated: The Owen Rose Garden, Skinner Butte Playground, Delta Ponds area project, St. Vincent DePaul First Place Family Center
  • Participated in EWEB Energy Saving program
  • Retrofitted and upgraded HVAC and lighting systems
  • Converted to paperless audit documentation system
  • Recycling stations installed throughout the office
  • Replaced workstation monitors with less toxic LCDs
  • Janitorial service instructed to switch all cleaning chemicals to sustainable earth products
  • Installed solar electric system on the roof of our office

100 Best Green Oregon Business

 Best Green company in OregonIn June 2009, Isler was honored as one of Oregon’s 100 Best Green Companies by Oregon Business Magazine.  Our 4th place ranking was based on confidential employee surveys and a report completed by each company.  The editors of Oregon Business Magazine noted that “it isn’t being green, but this year’s inaugural class of the 100 Best Green Companies to Work for in Oregon shows that if you’re committed to sustainable practices, it pays off not only for the environment and the bottom line, but also in being a great place to work.”

 100 Best places to workIsler is committed to providing more than just a living wage for its employees.  Going back to 2001, Isler has been recognized by Oregon Business Magazine and by Families In Good Company for its employee and family friendly practices.  Isler placed 11th among small companies on Oregon Business Magazine’s 2007 100 Best Companies to Work For list, which was the highest ranking for any small company (under 250 employees) in Eugene.  The scoring system used by Oregon Magazine is based partly on a company’s policies, but mostly on confidential surveys of employees.  In 2007, Isler CPA was recognized by Oregon Business Magazine as the Best Small Company to Work for in Eugene.  In 2008, Isler was again recognized in the top 50 of small companies (less than 250 employees).

 
IPA All-Star Firm
Inside Public Account All-Star Firm AwardIn 2009 Isler CPA participated for the first time in the Inside Public Accounting magazine survey of CPA firms. This survey provides the basis for IPA’s annual report on the Top 100 Accounting Firms  (ranked by firm revenue).  Isler received recognition as being among the ten “All-Star Firms” selected by IPA from survey participants in the area of staff training.  This is yet another example of objective third party recognition of Isler’s excellence and leadership in an ever broadening range of areas.
 
The Emerald Awards

Isler received the 2006 Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce “Emerald Award for Community Caring.”  This award recognized the more than 1,500 hours of paid community service performed by Isler members and employees;  the numerous key community leadership positions held by Isler members and employees;  and Isler’s direct monetary support of over $32,000.  The award committee called Isler “small but mighty.”

 
Bold Steps to Sustainability
Isler CPA has been recognized for its community service, sustainability efforts, and family-friendly employment practices.   In September 2007,Isler CPA was recognized by Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy for taking “Bold Steps to Sustainability.”  Isler has taken several bold steps to contribute energy, expertise, and credibility to the Mayor’s Sustainable Business Initiative including:(a) purchasing LTD passes for every employee; (b) holding a monthly drawing for $100 that an employee wins for using alternative transportation; (c) installing a 28 KW solar electric system; (d) creating a sustainability committee; and, (e) moving towards paperless environment and duplex printing on post consumer paper from a regional producer.  The solar system has substantial environmental impacts – over its lifetime the system is expected to save/offset an equivalent amount of energy as 800 tons of CO2, 83,200 gallons of gasoline, or 2,400 trees.
